The Vanderbilt Commodores (9-16, 0-12) failed to win their first SEC game of the season when they lost at home on February 16th against the Auburn Tigers (17-8, 6-6), 64-53.
The Commodores kept up with the talented (but under-producing) Tigers to start the game in part because of Vandy’s defense, but also because of poor shot selection from Auburn.
Nearly halfway through the first half, the Commodores narrowly led 9-8.

The SEC match-up continued to be a close, back-and-forth affair, which led to Vandy only trailing by four at halftime, 27-23.
The second half went by much like the first- Auburn would start to extend a lead and then Vanderbilt would cut it right back down.
This teeter-totter style of play continued until the clock expired. While Vandy was consistently able to bring themselves back into the game, they never had enough in the tank to take the next step and the lead.
