ESPN NFL Draft Analyst Todd McShay released his second NFL Mock Draft for this year. And, he changed things up for the Tennessee Titans.
Todd McShay’s Top 5 Mock
McShay has Western Michigan WR Corey Davis flying up the draft board to the Titans at Number Five overall.
Here’s what he said about Davis to the Titans:
“Talking to teams at the Senior Bowl, there’s a lot of buzz about Davis. He has good size (6-2, 205), elite production and is a smooth route-runner. Davis won’t run the 40 at the combine because of an ankle injury, but if he’s in the 4.4s at his pro day as expected, he could be a surprise top-10 pick. Marcus Mariota needs more weapons on the perimeter.”
In my opinion, fifth overall is too high for any receiver in this draft. If the Titans are set on drafting a WR high, the hope would be for GM Jon Robinson to trade back a handful of slots on the fringe of the Top 10 picks.
Who knows. McShay could be right in that Davis will shine during the draft process and shoot up to a top five pick.
McShay Mock: Titans go Cornerback at 18 Overall
Everyone and their grandmother knows Tennessee needs cornerback help. In listing the Titans needs this offseason, I say cornerback/secondary help is 1A and 1B. McShay had Robinson snagging a top defender from one of the country’s top college football teams from this past fall.
Jones is the sixth defensive back, and third cornerback off the board in McShay’s first round. Ohio State’s Marshon Lattimore (6th, NYJ) and Florida’s Teez Tabor (14th, PHI) are the two cornerback’s ahead of Jones. Michigan hybrid safety Jabril Peppers goes one spot ahead of Tennessee at 17th to Washington.
McShay has Howard going one spot behind Jones at No. 19 to the Buccaneers and Jameis Winston.
Other notable players slotted after Jones are: Tennessee DL Derek Barnett (21, DET), Miami TD David Njoku (22, MIA), and Florida LB Jarrad Davis (24, OAK).
