The pressure is on. We are sitting at 7-1 on our Titans gambling picks this year and with each week the pressure to make the right picks mounts higher and higher.
This week, there are a couple of bets you could like, but let’s not get greedy. Once you get greedy is when you start to lose and lose big. We’ll start with the bet that I liked at first, but have talked myself away from.
Before even seeing the total points number for this game, the over already sounded like a good bet. Why wouldn’t it? Since Ryan Tannehill took over as the Titans starting quarterback, the over has hit in every game. Then this number came out… 47.5.
This week’s number is the second highest total in the NFL (Patriots vs Chiefs is at 49). This number feels as if Vegas is tired of being beaten by Titans overs so they’ve intentionally inflated the number to beat the trend betters. Also, the under has hit in four of Oakland’s last six games.
Do I still think the over will hit this week? Honestly, yes. But I’m not confident enough to tell you to take it. So I won’t lock it in.
This week’s best bet is to take the Titans against the spread (-3). The writers at Oddsshark wrote their preview for this game and said to take the Raiders +3 and maybe even straight up. Their argument was based on the notion that this is a “must win” game for the Raiders.
Umm, hello! This is a must win for the Titans as well. The Titans are in the thick of the playoff hunt and their remaining games are against the Texans, Saints, and then the Texans again. If the Titans want to make the playoffs, they have no choice but to win this game. The notion that the Raiders will win because this is a “must win” for them is honestly ridiculous.
Since Ryan Tannehill took over as the #Titans starting quarterback, Tennessee is:

5-1 against the spread.

Here is the reality. The Titans are one of the hottest teams in the league in terms of straight up and against the spread. Tennessee has covered the spread in five of their last six games and if you’ve been watching then you’ve seen a clear shift in the ability of this team with #17 at quarterback.
Meanwhile the Raiders are in the midst of coming off the rails in Oakland. They have lost their last two games by 31 points each. One of those losses was to a Chiefs team that Tennessee beat. The other was to the Jets. The JETS!
The Raiders offense has gone stagnant and their defense couldn’t stop the high school teams playing in Cookeville this week. Meanwhile the Titans defense is good enough to win games while the offense has been a thing of beauty. Lock it in, baby. Titans -3.
