Jeremy Pruitt, the 44 year old first time head coach who was hired by the Tennessee Vols this past December, has worked alongside a litany of great head coaches, so he probably won’t be reaching out to South Carolina’s Will Muschamp for advice.
But if Pruitt were to reach out to the Gamecocks’ head coach for any wisdom that could be shared, he’d likely be shut down.
Muschamp was asked at the SEC meetings in Destin on Tuesday if he had any advice for Pruitt.
In classic Muschamp style, he responded that he would not be giving Pruitt any advice this fall.
Will Muschamp asked to give advice to Jeremy Pruitt on his first year in the SEC. “He’ll be alright. I’m not going to give him any advice.”

This was obviously a light hearted moment, but there definitely seems to be a different vibe among coaches when they discuss Pruitt. There’s a certain respect they have for him that wasn’t present with Butch Jones.
It feels like other coaches are like “ok, we need to take Tennessee serious now because this guy knows what he’s doing”.
By the way, if Muschamp does slip up and offer Pruitt some advice, he should probably take it.
Muschamp is 6-0 as a head coach against the Vols in his career.
Pruitt will have his first chance to put a blemish on Muschamp’s recored against Tennessee on October 27 when the Vols visit South Carolina.
