The Tennessee Vols received some expected, but still good to hear, news on Saturday.
One of Tennessee’s top 2019 recruiting targets, four-star running back Eric Gray from Memphis, announced his decommitment from Michigan.

The 5-foot-10/193 lb running back is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 1 all purpose back in the nation.
Gray decommitting from Michigan wasn’t a surprise at all. In fact, the only surprising thing was that it took this long. Gray canceled a recent trip to Michigan so he could visit Tennessee. And he reportedly might be visiting Knoxville against this upcoming weekend.
At this point, I’d be shocked if the Vols don’t land Gray. Though you can’t count Ole Miss, who recruits the Memphis area well, just yet.
However, if Tennessee does indeed end up landing the stud running back, it’ll mean more the Vols than just adding a great player. Tennessee needs to start owning the Memphis area. They’d still have a long ways to go to “owning” Memphis if they land Gray, but it would certainly be a great start for Pruitt and the Volunteers.
