Last month we learned that one of the great Tennessee Vols traditions — running through the T — won’t be happening in 2020.

The tradition will be nixed this season due to SEC guidelines that prevent bands from being on the field.

Another great tradition that won’t be happening in 2020 is the Vol walk.

Tennessee confirmed this week, while announcing media guidelines for covering games this season, that the Vol walk won’t be taking place on game days in Knoxville.

I’m not surprised by this decision — it’s hard to socially distance while walking down Peyton Manning Pass and Phillip Fulmer Way.

Of course, it’s impossible to socially distance on a football field, too. But that’s a discussion for another day.

Either way, it’s going to be strange to see a Tennessee football game with only 25,000 fans that doesn’t start with the traditional Vol walk or running through the T.

At the end of the day, however, I’m just happy we at least have college football this fall. It’s going to be a strange season that none of us ever forget.
