The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for 2021 four-star offensive/defensive lineman Rayshaun Benny.
Benny, 6-foot-5/275 lbs recently released a top eight list that included the Vols, along with Arkansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Arizona State, LSU, and Kentucky.
The Michigan native is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 player in the state of Michigan and the No. 19 offensive tackle in the nation.
According to 247Sports, Benny prefers to play on the defensive side of the ball. But not every program is recruiting him as a defensive lineman.
Tennessee, however, appears to be one of the programs that are recruiting the talented 2021 recruit as a defensive lineman. Vols defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is handling Benny’s recruitment, which makes sense, considering Jeremy Pruitt’s history of recruiting players at their preferred position.
Something else that could work in UT’s favor is that Benny attends the same high school (Oak Park) as former Vols running back John Kelly.
I’m not sure how much of a difference that connection will make, but it certainly can’t hurt Tennessee’s chances.
