Williams, 6-foot-5/250 pounds from Montgomery, AL, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 JuCo player in the state of Alabama and the No. 3 JuCo weak side defensive end in the nation.
(Side note: It’s incredibly intriguing that FAU is among Williams’ top schools with the Vols, Auburn, Ole Miss and Oregon. Lane Kiffin is obviously a hell of a recruiter.)
Williams, who recently told 247Sports “I could see myself on that field (at Neyland), took an unofficial visit to Tennessee on May 12.
Landing the Alabama native would be a nice addition for the Volunteers. It’s going to take Jeremy Pruitt a few years to build a roster that essentially “reloads” every year (like Alabama and Clemson). Until that happens, however, he’ll have to rely on some junior college transfers to pick up the slack.
Williams, who runs a sub 4.60 40 yard dash, could be a terrific pass rushing option for the Volunteers in 2019.
