The Tennessee Vols are getting plenty of attention from some of the nation’s top recruits lately.

On Wednesday, the Volunteers learned they’re in the top five for four-star offensive tackle Warren McClendon.

Tennessee joins Auburn, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina in McClendon’s top five.

McClendon is a 6-foot-5/290 pound offensive lineman from Brunswick, GA. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 26 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 28 offensive tackle in the nation.

Of the schools in McClendon’s top five, it appears Tennessee is the only one he hasn’t visited yet.

The fact that McClendon has the Vols among his top schools says a lot about Jeremy Pruitt and the job he’s done at Tennessee. Recruits clearly think a lot of him.

However, it could all be for naught when it comes to McClendon. It wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up at South Carolina.

McClendon’s cousin is Gamecocks co-offensive coordinator Bryan McClendon (he was reportedly an option to be the Vols’ new wide receivers coach this past winter).

The family tie to South Carolina could be too big for McClendon to pass up.
