Hide your defensive backs, because the Tennessee Vols are here to take all of them.

There might not be a better defensive back coaching duo in football than Jeremy Pruitt and Derrick Ansley.

And for that reason, the Vols are instantly a factor for all the top defensive backs in the country — even those who are committed elsewhere.

Take four-star defensive back Rashad Torrence for example.

Torrence committed to Florida back in December, but he’s still visiting other schools. He recently visited Tennessee and he told Rivals the trip was “fun”. Torrence added that there is “interest” now in the Vols.

The Georgia native also cited his close relationship with Ansley as a reason he’s now considering Tennessee. That should hardly be a surprise, considering Ansley’s reputation as an elite recruiter and secondary coach.

With Torrence keeping an “open mind” in his recruitment, there’s a very real chance the Volunteers could flip the dynamic defensive back.

And that would be big for the Vols, because Torrence, at 6-foot/195 lbs, perfectly fits the profile of a “Jeremy Pruitt defensive back” — tall, fast and lengthy.
