There was a bit of a social media stir over the weekend when photos of Tee Martin’s son Amari Rodgers working out at the Tennessee Vols’ indoor complex were posted on Instagram (by Martin).

The Twitter reactions to the photos of the Clemson wide receiver working out at Tennessee were swift and furious. A lot of folks weren’t happy about a current Clemson player using UT’s facilities.

On the surface, I can kind of understand the outrage. In a normal situation, this would definitely be foul. But I think this particular situation supersedes football/competition.

For the last seven years, Martin has been on the west coast while his son has been on the east coast. That means time shared between the two has likely been minimal.

Sure, this is a Clemson Tiger working to get better at Tennessee’s facility, where many folks feel Rodgers should’ve signed in 2017.

But more than that, it’s a father getting to spend some time with his son that he probably hasn’t been able to see as often as he’d like.

College football is great because of the passion of the fans. And I understand that passion completely.

Some things, however, are bigger than football.

This is one of those things.
