The Tennessee Vols are attempting to swipe a four-star talent from the west coast.

2022 four-star defensive end Nate Burrell, 6-foot-2/250 lbs from Bellflower, CA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 13 weakside defensive end in the nation and the No. 24 player in the state of California.

Burrell has mostly been hearing from west coast schools so far during his recruitment — specifically USC and Washington

The Vols, however, are trying to become a major factor for the talented defensive end.

“I’m talking to Tennessee a lot right now. They’re reaching out and trying to get to know me better as a person and a player,” said Burrell in a recent interview with Rivals.

The California native added, “They were really good with me. I got the coach’s number and I called him and we were having a really good conversation.”

Burrell said he’s hoping to visit Tennessee at some point, so it certainly sounds like the Vols may have a decent shot at landing the four-star recruit.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go in Burrell’s recruitment, so there’s still a lot of ways this recruitment could play out.

Recruiting, after all, is fluid.
