Five-star running back Emmanuel Henderson is poised to be one of the top recruits in the 2022 recruiting class and it appears that the Tennessee Vols could be an early favorite to land the speedster.
Henderson, 6-foot-1/185 lbs from Hartford, AL (Geneva County), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 running back in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama. He’s also rated as the No. 10 overall 2022 recruit in the nation.
The Alabama native recently spoke with Rivals about his recruitment and it certainly sounds like the Vols are strongly in the mix.
“Getting an offer from Tennessee felt good…Coach Pruitt is a cool guy. He will tell you how it is and won’t lie to you,” said Henderson.
The talented running back, who reportedly runs a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, also mentioned to Rivals that he has some family in Knoxville, noting that he’s been in Thompson-Boling Arena for his cousin’s graduation.
A family connection in Knoxville, combined with Jeremy Pruitt’s strong recruiting presence in Alabama, should put Tennessee in a pretty good spot for the five-star recruit.
Henderson is hoping he’ll get the chance to play basketball in college as well, but for now, only one program has offered him in both sports (Alabama State).
It’s obviously still very early in Henderson’s recruitment, but it sounds like Tennessee has a legitimate shot at landing one of the nation’s best 2022 recruits.
