One of the nation’s top rated 2020 athletes is checking out the Tennessee Vols this week.

Four-star cornerback Joel Williams, 6-foot-2/193 lbs from Baton Rouge, LA, tweeted on Wednesday that he’s on Tennessee’s campus.

Williams is rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 12 athlete in the nation.

The Louisiana native, who included the Vols in his list of top 13 schools earlier this month, is visiting Tennessee for the second time in less than two months. Williams also took an unofficial visit to UT in early March.

Williams told 247Sports in March that Tennessee is one of the schools at the top of his list. He also mentioned that while he’d prefer to play cornerback in college, he’s willing to play on the offensive side of the ball if that’s where his preferred college wants him.

The Vols are recruiting Williams to play on either side of the ball.

Tennessee was the first major conference school to offer Williams a scholarship. Their willingness to recruit him early might help them land the stud athlete.

It also doesn’t hurt that running backs coach David Johnson, a Louisiana native, is Williams’ primary recruiter at UT.

The Vols currently have six players committed to their 2020 recruiting class.
