Shrout, a California native, signed with Tennessee during the 2018 recruiting cycle. He was rated as a three-star recruit out of high school.
This season, Shrout tossed for 315 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions.
If Shrout decides to leave it will leave only true freshman Harrison Bailey and sophomore Brian Maurer (who missed Saturday’s game against Texas A&M for undisclosed reasons) as the only Vol quarterbacks with experience entering the 2021 season.
Redshirt senior quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, who will have one more year of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 pandemic, entered the transfer portal on Saturday, according to a report from AL.com
Tennessee signed four-star quarterback Kaidon Salter during the early signing period this past week.
