The Tennessee Vols will take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in the 2018 season opener, but it won’t be the only battle between the two schools.
According to a report from VolQuest, the Vols are pursuing 2019 four-star linebacker Lee Kpogba, who committed to West Virginia last October.
Kpogba, 6-foot-2/210 pounds from Winston-Salem, NC, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 23 player in the state of North Carolina and the No. 38 outside linebacker in the nation (though Tennessee is recruiting him as an inside linebacker).
The North Carolina native camped with the Vols this past weekend, and he’s scheduled to visit Knoxville again later this summer.
Kpogba told VolQuest that he had a good time at Tennessee, adding “I like Tennessee a lot. I plan on keeping them in mind”.
The Vols’ first priority this fall is obviously beating West Virginia in Charlotte on September 1. That’s the battle with the Mountaineers that matters most.
Swiping a talented recruit like Kpogba from Dana Holgersen and his staff, however, would definitely be the cherry on top for Tennessee.
With the way Jeremy Pruitt and his staff have been recruiting, I think it’s very, very possible that Kpogba ends up on Rocky Top.
