A few days ago I felt pretty certain that Jeremy Pruitt would keep his job as the head coach of the Tennessee Vols.
But now I’m not so sure.
ESPN’s Chris Low reported on Wednesday, during an interview on 104.5 in Nashville, that he thinks it will be “difficult” for Pruitt to keep his job.
Will Jeremy Pruitt make it? @Clowespn tells #3HL: “looking at it from where we are right now, talking to some people, I think its going to be difficult… you never say never… it will be difficult for him to be the Head Football coach.”#Vols

Low might work for ESPN, but there aren’t many reporters more dialed into what’s happening at Tennessee than him. He graduated from Tennessee and covered the Vols daily before joining ESPN. Low still breaks a lot of Vol news, too.
There are always rumors flying around, but when Chris Low is suggesting that Pruitt is in real danger of losing his job, I tend to think it’s legitimate.
If Pruitt is fired, it will almost certainly be because of the investigation that’s currently ongoing at Tennessee. Athletic director Phillip Fulmer is behind Pruitt, but the investigation takes the final decision on Pruitt out of Fulmer’s hands.
I’m not sure when things will be resolved with Pruitt, but Tennessee better hope it’s soon. They don’t want to be searching for a new head coach in late January/early February with spring practice just around the corner.
