When Phillip Fulmer hired Jeremy Pruitt in late 2017 to be the Tennessee Vols’ new head coach, he made the decision because of Pruitt’s promise to bring along the best coaching staff in the SEC.
And that’s a promise he’s delivered on.
Pruitt hasn’t hesitated to make sweeping changes when it comes to his coaching staff.
After one season on Rocky Top, Pruitt adjusted his personnel by bringing in Jim Chaney to coach the offense, and Derrick Ansley to coordinate the defense.
SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic is a big fan of Pruitt’s off-season staff decisions, telling A to Z Sports “I really believe he has the best staff in the SEC right now”.
Thats quite a compliment from someone who has covered the SEC for a lot of years. Cubelic has seen some legendary SEC staffs. To rate the Vols’ staff as the best, over Alabama and Georgia, says a lot about the current state of UT football.
I think it’s clear from Cubelic’s comments that Pruitt has Tennessee on the right track. It might take the Vols a couple of years to find their groove, but UT is definitely trending up.
