We don’t yet know what the Tennesee Vols’ coaching staff will look like next season, but we do know there will be at least one change.
Football Scoop reported on Tuesday morning that offensive line coach Will Friend is leaving Tennesese to join South Carolina’s staff.
Friend has been on Tennessee’s staff since Jeremy Pruitt was hired in late 2017. The two coaches are extremely close, which is why some folks speculated that Friend wouldn’t leave Tennessee’s staff.
However, Friend and Mike Bobo, who will serve as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator under new head coach Shane Beamer, are also very close.
This is a move that will likely make Vol fans happy. Tennessee’s offensive line massively underperformed in 2020. What looked like one of the most talented offensive line units in the SEC ended up playing like one of the least talented.
There will likely be more coaching staff changes for UT in the coming days.
