Tennessee Vols legend Peerless Price knows what it takes to win a national championship.
After all, Price is the wide receiver who caught four passes for 199 yards in the Vols’ BCS championship game win against Florida State on January 4, 1999.
So when Price speaks about the potential of Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee, it’s probably worth listening to him.
On Friday, during an appearance on Paul Finebaum’s show, Price suggested that UT could be in the College Football Playoff by 2023.
Former Tennessee Vol great Peerless Price tells us he is high on coach Jeremy Pruitt. “I think once this 2021 (recruiting) class becomes juniors, we’ll be in the college football playoffs and competing for national titles.”

I think this is a reasonable expectation. If Pruitt continues to recruit at a high level, it will mean Tennessee has plenty of talent by 2023 (it will also mean there’s all “Pruitt players” on the roster by then).
In 2023, it will mean the 2020 recruiting class is all seniors. It would mean a potential top five class (depending on how this recruiting class finishes) will be juniors. And who knows how good the sophomores and freshmen will be by then.
The Vols are clearly on the right trajectory. Price knows it. I know it. And judging by social media lately, the rest of country knows it.
