The Tennessee Vols are currently the team to beat for 2020 four-star linebacker Desmond Tisdol, according to Rivals.
Tisdol, 6-foot/215 lbs from Rochelle, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 14 player in the state of Georgia.
The Georgia native recently told Rivals that Tennessee is at the top of his list after visiting Rocky Top. Tisdol said he knew before his visit was over that UT would be at the top of his list, citing his close relationship with linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer and the “great” atmosphere as reasons why he likes the Vols.
Tennessee has a big need at inside linebacker at the moment. Senior Daniel Bituli will be gone after the 2019 season. True freshman Henry To’o To’o will play an even more important role for the Vols next season, but there’s no doubt that Tennessee lacks the depth at the position that they’d desire (the dismissal of Jeremy Banks earlier this season hurt UT’s depth).
Rivals reported that Tisdol is set to take an official visit to Tennessee on December 13, which is just before the early signing period. Tisdol will visit Auburn the weekend before his visit to Knoxville.
The Vols currently have 18 players committed to their 2020 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 20 in the nation.
