When the Tennessee Vols lost to Georgia State to open the 2019 season, there were plenty of folks who questioned Jeremy Pruitt’s ability to motivate his team.
It was an understandable question. For whatever reason, Tennessee didn’t look energized against Georgia State.
Maybe Pruitt didn’t have his team prepared well enough. Or maybe there were other factors (such as the absence of linebacker Daniel Bituli) that contributed to the loss. Ten years from now we probably won’t know exactly why the Vols lost a game they absolutely should’ve won.
As we enter the final weeks of the 2019 season, however, I feel confident in saying that Pruitt and defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley know how to motivate their players.
Just check out the latest video that Tennessee’s official Twitter account dropped.

I’m pretty sure you can hear everyone in the state of Tennessee running through a brick well when Ansley says “we ain’t leaving without a W, whatever we gotta do, we’re not leaving without doing what we came to do”.
The same goes for the portion of Pruitt’s pregame speech that we see in the clip.
You can blame Tennessee’s struggles early in the season on plenty of factors, but questioning Pruitt and his staff’s ability to motivate the team probably isn’t an area where blame should be placed.
