The Tennessee Vols are hoping they can convince a 2020 Florida Gators commit to eschew Gainesville for Knoxville.

Three-star defensive end Morven Joseph tweeted his top eight schools on Wednesday afternoon and included the Volunteers.

Joseph, 6-foot-2/210 lbs from Lakeland, FL, plans to take all five of his official visits. Tennessee will almost certainly receive one of those visits.

The Florida native, who is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 17 weak side defensive end in the nation, recently told Rivals that he “for sure” wants to visit UT.

Joseph mentioned that he’s never been to Knoxville, but that he recently had an insightful conversation with a Vols assistant coach, saying “That conversation with him really opened my eyes. I like him a lot and I like the coaches, so I have to go visit.”

Florida State and Georgia are also going to be big factors for Joseph. This sounds like a case where college programs like a player a bit more than the recruiting rankings. I wouldn’t be surprised if Joseph is rated as a four-star recruit by the time signing day rolls around.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Joseph waits until signing day (it’s unclear if he will sign during the early signing period) to make his final decision. If the Vols get him on campus, and it sounds like they will, they’ll have a good chance to land the talented pass rusher.
