The Tennessee Vols had three quarterbacks competing for the starting job this spring.
Two more quarterbacks will enter the mix this fall (Kaidon Salter if/when his suspension is lifted, and Michigan transfer Joe Milton).
There’s a general feeling that Tennessee will lose at least one quarterback to the transfer portal at some point this summer.
It’s definitely a likely scenario. There are only so many reps to go around. And talented quarterbacks don’t want to end up buried on the depth chart with no playing time in sight.
There’s obviously been a lot of speculation about which quarterback could possibly transfer. There have been cases made for nearly every quarterback on the depth chart.
After Wednesday evening, it appears there’s one quarterback we can officially mark off the potential transfer list.
Sophomore quarterback Harrison Bailey, a former five-star recruit who signed with the Vols during the 2020 recruiting cycle, posted a photo on Instagram that seems to indicate that he’ll be at Tennessee “all season” in 2021.

Bailey looked like the best quarterback on the roster in the Orange and White game. While that’s only one practice, it’s certainly a good sign for Bailey moving forward. There are plenty of folks who feel like he’s the most talented quarterback on the roster.
The Vols need as much talent at the quarterback position as they can get. It’s certainly good news that Bailey is planning on sticking around in Knoxville for the foreseeable future.
