The mood in the Tennessee Vols’ locker room (and post game media session) was light on Wednesday night after a hard fought 73-71 road win against the Ole Miss Rebels.

It was so light, in fact, that Grant Williams didn’t mind poking fun at teammate Admiral Schofield for the game-saving charge he took in the game’s final moments.

When Schofield stood near mid-court in position to take a charge after Wiliams’ potential game winning basket, Vol nation held its collective breath, not knowing if the call would go in Tennessee’s favor.

Fortunately for the Vols, the correct call was made.

But even though the call went Tennessee’s way, Schofield promised Vols head coach Rick Barnes that he’d never flirt with disaster in that manner again.

That’s probably a good decision on Schofield’s part. We’ve seen this season that SEC referees don’t always make the right call, even if it’s obvious.
