The Tennessee Vols have been on an incredible hot streak lately.
And it could continue in the coming days/weeks/months.
According to Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman, the Vols are one of the top teams to beat for four-star defensive tackle Katron Evans.
Friedman recently “ranked the contenders” for Evans and he has the Vols as the second most likely team to land the elite defensive lineman, behind Alabama.
“The Vols have a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail right now and Evans has been very high on Tennessee for a while”, said Friedman. He added “Seeing what Tennessee is doing in this recruiting class has only helped the Vols get more of Evans’ attention”.
Evans, 6-foot-4/320 lbs from Baltimore, MD, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 8 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 9 defensive tackle in the nation.
Vols tight ends coach Joe Osovet, who has turned into an ace recruiter for UT, is the area recruiter for Evans. Osovet has done well in the Maryland area, which is part of the reason the Volunteers are surging in Evans’ recruitment.
If Tennessee is able to get a commitment from Evans, they’ll be getting a defensive tackle that’s described by 247Sports as “explosive and physical” and who “uses power to overwhelm blockers”.
For now, it’s unclear when Evans is planning to commit.
