Recruiting is all about finding the players that are the most talented and are the best fit for a program, regardless of what the recruiting rankings say.

Now, for the most part, the recruiting services get it right. That’s why the programs that routinely sign top five classes are the same programs that typically reach the College Football Playoff.

But there are still hidden gems to be found. And the Tennessee Vols may have found one in the 2022 recruiting class.

Three-star athlete Rodney Hill 6-foot/175 lbs from Savannah, GA, received an offer from Tennessee earlier this spring. Hill isn’t listed by Rivals or 247Sports in their national rankings, so he’s truly “under-the-radar”.

However, that might not be the case for long.

Hill is an intriguing athlete who could play multiple positions at the next level. He has pretty good speed (4.5 in the 40-yard dash) and has experience at wide receiver, running back and cornerback.

The Vols would likely use Hill on offense, where he could be used creatively out of the backfield by offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.

Not only is Hill talented on the field, but he’s also a great kid who fits the mold of what Jeremy Pruitt is trying to build at Tennessee.

The Georgia native recently told Rivals that he’s looking for a school that will offer him more than just football, saying “I want a staff that will help me grow and be a better man. It’s more than football for me”.

Rivals noted that Hill, who has a 4.1 GPA, hopes to study sports medicine in college.

For now, the Vols are battling Michigan State, West Virginia, Maryland, Eastern Carolina and South Alabama for the talented athlete.
