Tennesee Vols sophomore running back Eric Gray doesn’t lack in confidence.

The Memphis native, who was rated as the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2019 recruiting class, has a great feeling about the start of the 2020 season.

Gray told reporters on Tuesday that he feels like he’s going to have a fast start to the season.

I wouldn’t bet against Gray. He had a trememous finish to the 2019 season, rushing for 332 yards and four touchdowns over the Vols’ final two games. He should absolutely pick up where he left off in January.

The dynamic running back is expected to be on the field “a lot” for Tennessee in 2020, along with senior running back Ty Chandler.

Gray and Chandler both have the ability to score every time they touch the ball. It should be fun to watch them find their groove in Jim Chaney’s offense this season.

By the way, Gray isn’t the only UT player who thinks Tennessee will have a quick start to the 2020 season.

Sophomore linebacker Henry To’o To’o is feeling the same way.

There won’t be any Vols overlooking South Caorlina on Saturday. I’d expect Jeremy Pruitt’s squad to be dialed in. I don’t think we’ll see a repeat of last year’s disastrous season-opener against Georgia State.
