Former Tennessee Vols head coach Butch Jones will spend the 2018 season as an intern for the Alabama Crimson Tide under head coach Nick Saban.
Jones, who is owed $8.26 million after being fired by Tennessee this past November, will make $35,000 annually as an intern in Tuscaloosa.
Part of his incentive package apparently does not include team apparel, as it appears he’s having to buy his own.

It’s embarrassing enough (even if it’s a smart move on his part) that Jones went from head coach at a storied SEC program to an intern. It’s even worse that he can’t even get some team issued gear.
If I were Jones, I wouldn’t spend too much money on Alabama merchandise. I can’t imagine he’ll be hanging around too long.
Once Saban gets tired of hearing cheesy slogans, or Jones’ ideas for starting Mac Jones over Tua Tagovailoa or Jalen Hurts at quarterback, the former Vol head coach will likely be making a swift exit from the state of Alabama.
