Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel finalized his on-field coaching staff this week, hiring Mike Ekeler to fill the final spot.

Ekeker will serve as the Vols’ outside linebackers coach/special teams coordinator.

The longtime college football assistant joins Tennessee’s staff after recent stops at North Texas, Kansas, UNC, and Georgia.

Ekeler has been a Vol assistant for less than a week, but he’s already endearing himself to Tennessee fans via his Twitter usage.

On Saturday, Ekeler tweeted that he was house hunting and jokingly tweeted that he wouldn’t mind living in Neyland Stadium.

Ekeler also stopped at Gus’s Good Time Deli on Saturday.

And if that wasn’t enough, Ekeler called coaching at Tennessee a “dream job”.

There’s no doubt that Ekeler is fired up to be in Knoxville. That’s the kind of energy the Vols need to turn this program around.
