Crawford, 5-foot-11/200 lbs from Tyler, TX, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 47 player in the state of Texas and the No. 15 athlete in the nation.
The Texas native visited Tennessee on April 12. Crawford told 247Sports after his visit that UT felt like home. He also mentioned that he’d likely be able to play early for the Vols, at either cornerback or as a returner, which could be a major factor in his decision.
Of course, it’s going to be tough for Tennessee to compete with Oklahoma and Texas simply because of distance. But Jeremy Pruitt has had plenty of success with out of state recruiting (he landed elite linebacker Henry To’oto’o from California earlier this year). It should be noted that Crawford told 247Sports recently that “distance and traveling is not a problem”.
The Vols currently have six players committed to their 2020 recruiting class. Their last commitment came on May 13 when four-star junior college cornerback Art Green pledged to play for Tennessee in 2020.
