2020 four-star athlete Len’Neth Whitehead will officially visit the Tennessee Vols this weekend for their season opener against Georgia State, according to a report from Rivals.
Whitehead, 6-foot-1/230 lbs from Athens, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 7 inside linebacker in the nation.
While Whitehead is highly rated as an inside linebacker, he’s also being recruited as a running back.
In fact, Whitehead told Rivals that Tennessee has said it’s his choice what position he would play if he signed with the Vols.
Whitehead also mentioned that Tennessee is recruiting him “really hard”, adding “I am pretty much down to Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas and Wisconsin.”
The Georgia native, who has been described by 247Sports as a “power-five prospect” who has “early round NFL draft upside with the right development”, said he hopes to be committed by October.
Whitehead is scheduled to visit Georgia on September 21 for the Bulldogs’ game against Notre Dame.
It sounds like the Vols are in a good position to land Whitehead, but it could be difficult for them to hold off Georgia — especially after the dynamic athlete visits Athens for one of the season’s most anticipated games.
Tennessee currently has 15 commits to its 2020 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 22 in the nation at the moment.
