The 2019 college football season technically started last weekend with the Florida Gators’ win over the Miami Hurricanes, but things really getting popping this weekend with a full slate of games on deck.

As is my custom, I’ve predicted the record of each SEC team in 2019. With 14 teams, I’m bound to get one or two of these right. If I get at least half right, I’m going to do a lot of boasting.

A LOT.

Anyway, my method of predicting records is simple. I look at the schedule week by week and pick a winner in each game. Then I look back over the schedule and add up the wins and losses and see what I come up with. I’m often surprised at the outcome. Sometimes a team I would’ve picked as 7-5 ends up 4-8. But it is what it is.

So here’s what I came up with for the SEC in 2019.

SEC West

  • Alabama — 12-0 (8-0)
  • LSU — 10-2 (6-2)
  • Texas A&M — 9-3 (6-2)
  • Auburn — 7-5 (4-4)
  • Mississippi State — 7-5 (3-5)
  • Ole Miss — 5-7 (2-6)
  • Arkansas — 4-8 (0-8)

SEC East

  • Georgia — 12-0 (8-0)
  • Florida — 9-3 (5-3)
  • Missouri — 9-3 (5-3)
  • Kentucky — 7-5 (4-4)
  • Tennessee — 7-5 (3-5)
  • South Carolina — 5-7 (2-6)
  • Vanderbilt — 3-9 (0-8)

I think South Carolina and Vanderbilt are better than these records, but this is just how I see the season playing out. There will be some tough losses for some teams. I think South Carolina and Vanderbilt will be the victim of a couple of those tough losses.
