NASHVILLE — Super Bowl Week symbolizes everything both wrong and right about professional football. Only two teams remain and fewer stories left to tell, relegating the rest of the league’s media corps to offseason duties.
List SZN, baby.
Still, when people of import opine about the Tennessee Titans, it always sparks discussion. Such is the case with fantasy guru Evan Silva and his Top 100 Free Agents. Silva’s list accounts for only unrestricted players heading into the 2020 offseason. Tennessee has 22 total free agents, 16 of whom are unrestricted.
So as not to give away the meat of Silva’s post, the Titans on his ranking will be named in the order in which they appear but not with the ranking itself. Here is who made the cut:
- Ryan Tannehill (QB)
- Jack Conklin (RT)
- Marcus Mariota (QB)
- Derrick Henry (RB)
- Logan Ryan (CB)
Henry, the NFL’s leading rusher, coming in at fourth out of the five players Silva selected likely comes as the biggest surprise. As big of a role as he played in Tennessee’s postseason run, Henry still comes off the field on obvious passing downs too often and is rarely targeted in the teams aerial attack. This lack of versatility in an age with so many backs who can both run the ball and catch hurts the Heisman Trophy-winner’s value.
A test of the open market this offseason may not satisfy what King Henry’s camp will demand.
