Selecting Rashaan Evans in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft wasn’t exactly a tough decision for Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson.

Plenty of draft analysts believed Evans would be selected in the top 20. When he started falling, Robinson made the quick decision to trade up for the former Alabama linebacker.

One reason Robinson traded up for Evans was because of his stellar career in the SEC.

Another reason?

Something Robinson saw from Evans during the pre-draft process.

While attending Alabama’s pro-day, Robinson and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel saw Evans’ leadership abilities stand out among a group of extremely talented players.

From ESPN:

“You could see his leadership in the room, the command that he had in that room. He kind of had an old-soul feel about him.”

I know Evans has yet to play a down in the NFL. And I know there are plenty of first round draft selections that fail to live up to the hype. But I have a great feeling about Evans’ future with the Titans.

He’s the type of player like Mike Vrabel is looking for — team focused and talented (with a no-nonsense attitude tossed in).

Evans has the potential to be the leader of the Titans’ defense. With his hardworking attitude, the sky truly is the limit.
