Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jurrell Casey made the decision a year ago to become a vegan……kinda.
Casey follows a plant based diet, but he doesn’t eschew all meats. He still eats fish, so he’s technically a “pescatarian”.
The problem for Casey is that he loves to travel. And one of the best parts of traveling is trying new foods. While he says he still enjoys trying new foods, he has to stick to mostly pasta and fish.
Casey recently revealed to the “Official Titans Podcast” what a typical week of food for him looks like.
- Monday: Pasta
- Tuesday: Tacos (with soy based ingredients)
- Wednesday: Sushi
- Thursday: Date night with the wife
- Friday: His “wild card” night
The talented defensive lineman said the food he misses the most is a “juicy cheeseburger”.

I’m constantly amazed at folks who can stick to a regimented diet of mostly plant based foods and fish. I don’t think I’ve went a day without chicken, beef or pork since I was a teenager.
Whatever Casey is eating, however, works. He’s one of the most underrated players in the NFL (he’s been to three straight Pro-Bowls).

There’s a LOT of Titans players that have a similar diet, especially on defense. Derrick Morgan’s wife is a chef & cooks for multiple teammates. It’s working very well, hopefully more players start trying it.
