NFL power rankings are completely meaningless, but they still have a way of getting folks worked up.

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that ESPN’s latest NFL power rankings managed to ruffle a few feathers.

And for good reason.

The Tennessee Titans improved to 2-1 this past weekend after an unlikely 9-6 road win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. You know, the team that easily handled the New England Patriots the prior week.

But despite the Titans’ win, they still remained 16 spots below the Jaguars in ESPN’s power rankings.

Umm, excuse me?

Here’s how ESPN power ranks all 32 NFL teams.

  1. Los Angeles Rams
  2. Kansas City Chiefs
  3. Philadelphia Eagles
  4. Jacksonville Jaguars
  5. New Orleans Saints
  6. New England Patriots
  7. Pittsburgh Steelers
  8. Miami Dolphins
  9. Minnesota Vikings
  10. Green Bay Packers
  11. Carolina Panthers
  12. Atlanta Falcons
  13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  14. Cincinnati Bengals
  15. Baltimore Ravens
  16. Los Angeles Chargers
  17. Denver Broncos
  18. Chicago Bears
  19. Washington Redskins
  20. Tennessee Titans
  21. Seattle Seahawks
  22. Dallas Cowboys
  23. Cleveland Browns
  24. Indianpolis Colts
  25. Detroit Lions
  26. San Francisco 49ers
  27. New York Jets
  28. New York Giants
  29. Houston Texans
  30. Buffalo Bills
  31. Oakland Raiders
  32. Arizona Cardinals

This whole list is riddled with mistakes. For example, how can a 1-2 New England Patriots team be ranked sixth when the 1-2 Detroit Lions are ranked 25th. And the Lions beat the Patriots.

Or how about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being ranked at 13th when they’ve beat two of the teams ranked in ESPN’s top five. Their one loss was to the Steelers, who are ranked 8th.

And did no one at ESPN realize the Dolphins are 3-0? What else are they suppose to do to get some respect?

Here’s how the power rankings should look.

  1. Los Angeles Rams
  2. Kansas City Chiefs
  3. Miami Dolphins
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  5. Philadelphia Eagles
  6. Jacksonville Jaguars
  7. Carolina Panthers
  8. Tennessee Titans
  9. New Orleans Saints
  10. Baltimore Ravens
  11. Denver Broncos
  12. Cincinnati Bengals
  13. Washington Redskins
  14. Green Bay Packers
  15. Minnesota Vikings
  16. Pittsburgh Steelers
  17. Chicago Bears
  18. Atlanta Falcons
  19. New England Patriots
  20. Los Angeles Chargers
  21. Detroit Lions
  22. Cleveland Browns
  23. Indianpolis Colts
  24. Seattle Seahawks
  25. Dallas Cowboys
  26. New York Jets
  27. San Francisco 49ers
  28. Buffalo Bills
  29. New York Giants
  30. Houston Texans
  31. Oakland Raiders
  32. Arizona Cardinals

Yes, that looks much better.
