Tennessee has officially hired Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt as the 26th head coach in Vols football history.
Pruitt has spent the last two seasons leading the Crimson Tide defense and will have an opportunity to win his fifth national title as a college assistant.
His first national title as a defensive coordinator came in 2013 during his only season at Florida State. The Seminoles had THE BEST defense in the entire country, led by Pruitt.
After the report of his hiring at Tennessee, this video was tweeted from back in 2013 of three Florida State defensive players giving incredible compliments of their defensive coordinator.
“He said something to me that I’ll never forget… You don’t get what you want, you get what you earn… He got my attention from day one.”
That’s only the surface of how good this quotes are from players who only spent one season with Jeremy Pruitt.
Tennessee’s Jeremy Pruitt “loves football, loves coaching”
Lamarcus Joyner on Jeremy Pruitt in 2013: “You have no choice but to draw to him. He’s a natural leader.” Joyner, Telvin Smith and Timmy Jernigan were all part of Pruitt’s prolific defense at Florida State when the Seminoles won a national title. #Vols pic.twitter.com/kJA1572a3G
