2019 four-star safety Nick Cross tweeted on Thursday that he received an offer from the Tennessee Vols.

Cross is a 6-foot-1, 207 pound safety from Hyattsville, MD (Dematha Catholic). He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 5 safety in the nation.

In addition to his offer from Tennessee, Cross also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma, among several others.

Cross is exactly what Pruitt is looking for in a defensive back — he’s tall and he’s physical. But Cross isn’t limited to just being physical, he’s also good in coverage.

There’s a reason he’s one of the nation’s highest sought after safeties, he’s a potential game changer on the defensive side of the ball (as evidenced by his highlights).

I wouldn’t expect Cross to make a choice on where he’ll play in college anytime soon. He appears to be taking his time with his decision. He’s looking for a school that has high academic standards along with a track record of putting players in the NFL.

Tennessee’s been down for a while, but they’ve been pretty successful at getting players to the NFL.

And Jeremy Pruitt has been even more successful at getting defensive players in the NFL.

If the Vols can get Cross on campus, they should squarely be in the mix for his commitment.
