The Tennessee Vols received some good news this week when 2021 four-star defensive back Damarius McGhee announced his commitment to UT.
McGhee, 6-foot-1/163 lbs from Pensacola, FL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 12 player in the state of Florida and the No. 8 cornerback in the nation.
The Florida native is exactly the type of cornerback that Jeremy Pruitt loves — long, tall, and fast (McGhee runs track in high school).
And he has the attitude to absolutely thrive in the SEC.
McGhee just wants to play football. He just wants to contribute.
“I like to press and I like to get my hands dirty. Anything that my team needs I do it. I love special teams. I feel like schools kick it away from me, but I feel like if they kick to me it’s a touchdown every time,” said McGhee to VolQuest after his commitment.
That’s an attitude that Tennessee fans have to love. McGhee is full of confidence, but he’s also willing to do whatever it takes to help his team.
I’d say that makes him a perfect fit on Rocky Top.
