The Tennessee Vols are among the favorites to land a talented 2019 four-star linebacker from Savannah, GA.

Kalen DeLoach, 6-foot/201 pounds, released his top nine schools on Tuesday night and the Volunteers were among those who made the cut.

DeLoach is rated by 247Sports as the No. 25 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 16 outside linebacker in the nation.

It doesn’t appear, however, that DeLoach will start out playing outside linebacker at the next level. Especially if he ends up at Tennessee.

247Sports recently reported that Vols defensive coordinator/inside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer told DeLoach he’ll likely be a Mike linebacker in Tennessee’s defense.

That makes a lot of sense, because DeLoach would have to put on a lot of weight to move to outside linebacker (which is still possible via the strength program at UT, but he’ll definitely start on the inside).

DeLoach took an unofficial visit to Tennessee on March 17. He’s also recently visited South Carolina and Georgia.

The Georgia native is expected to visit Clemson this upcoming weekend for the Tigers’ spring game.

Tennessee currently has five commits to their 2019 recruiting class.
