Former five-star linebacker Eyabi Anoma, who signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide in December 2017, recently entered the transfer portal according to a report from Bruce Feldman on Tuesday.

Anoma was rated as the No. 4 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class.

The Maryland native appeared in six games as a true freshman last season, totaling nine tackles.

Maryland head coach Mike Locksley was Anoma’s primary recruiter at Alabama, which is why there’s a belief that the Terrapins could be the favorites to land the stud linebacker.

But I think the Tennessee Vols need to be very much in the mix for Anoma.

While Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt wasn’t Enoma’s primary recruiter, he was heavily involved in his recruitment as the Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator.

Anoma reportedly wants to transfer due to a lack of playing time at Alabama. He would obviously get that playing time at Maryland, but he’d also get it at Tennessee. And he’d have the added benefit of staying in the SEC.

If Anoma ends up transferring, he will almost certainly have to sit out a year.
