One of the Tennessee Vols’ top 2019 targets, five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe, tweeted on Monday that he’ll be announcing his commitment on May 5.

Pappoe, 6-foot, 215 pounds from Loganville, GA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 1 outside linebacker in the nation. They also rate him as the No. 7 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class.

As of right now, Auburn and Georgia appear to be the leaders for Pappoe, but that could quickly change. Last October, Pappoe named Clemson, Georgia and Nebraska as his top three schools. A couple of trips to Auburn, however, helped the Tigers surge past Clemson and Nebraska.

Its certainly possible that Tennessee could make the same type of move with the talented linebacker.

Pappoe took an unofficial visit to Knoxville on January 13 and then attended the Vols’ junior day on March 3.

I think Georgia is probably the program most likely to land a commitment from Pappoe in May, but Tennessee and other schools will actively recruit him throughout the fall. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pappoe change his mind a time or two.
