2021 three-star wide receiver Roc Taylor has been committed to the Tennessee Vols since early April, but that isn’t stopping rival programs from pursuing the Alabama native.
Taylor recently received a scholarship offer from the Auburn Tigers, a program that is planning to recruit the Vol commit “hard” moving forward.
“They (Auburn) were just like, We’re going to put the full-court press on you. We’re going to be really on you. And we’re very interested in you, so we’re going to be just on you a lot,” said Taylor recently to 247Sports.
For now, it doesn’t appear that Auburn is a legitimate threat to steal Taylor from Tennessee.
Taylor told 247Sports “It’ll be tough because Tennessee is a school where you can build yourself and make yourself better, and just start new and just build”.
Anything can happen in recruiting, but it certainly sounds like Taylor is firmly committed to the Vols.
Taylor, 6-foot-4/218 lbs from Oxford, AL (Oxford), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 16 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 33 athlete in the nation. He has the size to play tight end, but the Vols, for now, are planning to use Taylor at wide receiver.
It can obviously be unnerving for UT fans to see rival programs pursuing recruits who are committed to Tennessee, but it’s actually a good thing. It shows fans that Jeremy Pruitt and his staff are recruiting high caliber players to Knoxville.
