One of the many popular story lines of the first half of the Tennessee Titans’ 2018 season has been untimely dropped passes by this young receiver group.

Tajae Sharpe had a bad moment in the Week 3 win in Jacksonville with a drop, but the 2016 5th round pick has emerged as one of the Titans more reliable targets as of late. Sharpe had his first career 100-yard game against the Chargers on seven catches. All seven moved the chains for a first down and five of them came on third down.

But his receiver teammates Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor both had egregious drops on perfect passes from Marcus Mariota in London. Wednesday he answered my question about if they had figured out what was going on with drops.

Sharpe has come on strong recently and is clearly gaining trust from Mariota. Travis Haney of The Athletic pointed out that eight of Sharpe’s last 12 receptions have come on third down.

These drops haven’t been limited to a couple players. It’s been just about everyone that has been targeted by quarterback Marcus Mariota, including former Titans Nick Williams and Rishard Matthews. Below is a compilation of crushing drops from the first five games of the Tennessee Titans season.

The Tennessee Titans are sitting at 3-4 and are in the middle of their bye week before facing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, November 5.
