There’s been a lot of speculation over the last several weeks that wide receivers coach Tee Martin — the quarterback who led the Vols to their last national championship over 20 years ago — could be moving on from Tennessee.
Martin’s contract is up at the end of January.
According to a report from WMNL’s Jimmy Hyams on Thursday, Martin has a verbal agreement in place (that was made with previous athletic director Phillip Fulmer) on a two-year extension with a raise.
Hyams says Martin hasn’t signed the agreement, as he waits to see how the coaching situation/NCAA investigation plays out.
Tennessee co-head coach, pass game coordinator and receivers coach Tee Martin has a verbal agreement with outgoing AD Phillip Fulmer on a 2-year extension with a raise. Martin has yet to sign it as the investigation and search for a new AD has held up the process.

Whoever is hired next at Tennessee would be wise to keep Martin on staff. He knows UT as well as anyone and he could help hold the roster together (and he’d help on the recruiting trail).
The Vols hired Danny White away from UCF on Thursday to serve as the program’s new athletic director. He said in a press release that his first objective at Tennessee will be finding a new football coach.
