Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt is finally making the move that a lot of folks have been begging for this season.
True freshman Harrison Bailey will be the Vols’ starting quarterback against Florida on Saturday, according to a report from AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.
Sources: Tennessee will start freshman Harrison Bailey at QB vs. Florida today.
Jeremy Pruitt acknowledged earlier in the week that Bailey would at the very least get playing time in the game but maintained that he hadn’t made a final decision on a starter. It will be Bailey.

This isn’t too much of a surprise. Tennessee wide receiver Josh Palmer alluded to Bailey starting earlier this week during a media session with reporters.
Josh Palmer: He’s calm, cool and collected. I feel like we have a really good game plan for him.

Brian Maurer was the last true freshman quarterback to start for the Vols. Maurer started last season’s loss to Georgia.
Will McBride also started as a true freshman quarterback in 2017 (against Missouri).
