It’s complete chaos on Rocky Top right now.
Stop me if you’ve heard that one before.
The Tennessee Vols football program is in an extremely strange place at the moment.
Jeremy Pruitt’s third year didn’t go as planned after receiving a contract extension prior to the 2020 season. Tennessee finished 3-7 with all seven of their losses coming by double digits.
To go along with the on-field issues, there’s also an internal investigation into alleged recruiting violations that may have occurred under Pruitt’s watch.
Despite all the chaos, Vols athletic director Phillip Fulmer seemingly backed Pruitt in a bowl game statement on Sunday evening (oh yeah, the Volunteers get to go bowling, against West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl, despite winning only three games this season).
This week on the Big Orange Podcast, Charlie Burris and I break down what Fulmer said, throw out some reasons for his statement and discuss everything we’ve been hearing lately.
We also talk about the moves Fulmer could make if he is forced to move on from Pruitt.
