When the Tennessee Titans hired Mike Vrabel in early 2018 to be the next head coach of the franchise, they hired him because they wanted the team to take on his personality.
Vrabel had a reputation during his playing days as a tough, hard nosed linebacker who kept his head down and got the job done on the field.
That’s the kind of culture the Titans were hoping Vrabel would bring to Nashville.
After just over a year on the job, it’s safe to say that’s exactly what Vrabel has managed to do — at least according to NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah.
The veteran NFL analyst recently told Titans Online that he believes Tennessee is one of the toughest teams in the NFL.
Here’s his full comment:
“If you ask around the league: Who are the most physical teams around the league? I think the Titans would be one of the first four or five teams that come to mind”
Jeremiah followed up that comment by saying “They are tough, and they are physical. But they need to be a little more dynamic.”
The Titans have a chance to become a more “dynamic” team by adding a difference maker in the first round of the upcoming NFL draft.
Most analysts seem to think the Titans will take a pass rusher or a defensive lineman with the No. 19 overall selection. While that would certainly make sense, we also know general manager Jon Robinson isn’t afraid to make some wild moves on draft day.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the Titans move out of the No. 19 slot. That could mean the Titans move down and secure some more picks, or it’s possible they move up to grab a player they really like.
Either way, one thing is certain — the Titans’ 2019 draft process will be anything but boring.
