Mike Fisher announced his retirement (again) from the NHL after the Nashville Preds lost to the Winnipeg Jets in the second round of the playoffs last summer.
Fisher must be getting bored in retirement already, because he’s using his suddenly freed up schedule to embark on a “music” career.
On Monday, Fisher released a cover version of his wife Carrie Underwood’s hit song “Before He Cheats”. Fisher’s version is called “Before She Bleats”, a reference to deer hunting, which is one of his favorite hobbies.
Check out the video below.
In case you’re wondering (like I was, because I know nothing about deer hunting), “bleats” is defined as “generally a call to attract another deer, be it a buck during the rut or a fawn”.
I don’t know what any of that means, but it sounds good to me.
Anyway, as bored as Fisher might be, I wouldn’t expect another mid-season return to the ice. The 38 year old former Preds captain is almost certainly finished after a distinguished career that included 24 goals in the playoffs.
But while I can’t foresee Fisher returning to the NHL, I can’t see much of career in the music industry either — for obvious reasons.
